If you can’t upgrade these things, consider buying a more powerful computer (or upgrading when your current computer is older). Both RAM and a CPU are easy to upgrade and you can do this yourself if you know your way around a computer.

Generally, the higher the number, the more powerful the computer. If your video card is too low though, it will not be able to handle the number of images you are working with. If you are in the market for a new computer, I recommend you go with a higher number (over 8,000 if you don’t know how to work with numbers!) because the #1 reason people fail with anything creative is lack of time. Therefore, if you have double digits of a computer and you aren’t using all of it because you aren’t running the most efficient software, then you are wasting a valuable resource (RAM, CPU, and video RAM).

Finally, do not get discouraged when you have too little RAM. There are a few things you can do to speed up Photoshop and other programs. However, Photoshop doesn’t like low RAM. Therefore, make sure to purchase a higher amount. If you can afford it, I suggest going with 16GB of RAM and a CPU that can use 4GB of RAM.
