What I found most striking about the new version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 2009 is how much the program is still the same. All the other elements research and development is paid for by the company, and I have to give a big “thank you” to them for taking the time to create something that’s attainable to the average person.

The only different thing here is that you can use Photoshop’s own tools with Photoshop Elements. In previous versions, Photoshop’s tools were used inside Elements, but it was limited to only a few elements. This new version adds the ‘character’ tools like the black and white conversion tool, the crop tool, the layer adjustments and many more. Although the fonts might look a little small and difficult to read, the user interface of the program is still impressive. There are three tabs to select your document from: none, a single image, or one you have saved as a preset.

Photoshop also has splitter layers for pre-visualization. For example, you can create a splitter layer for visual development and another for making notes. Finally, you can preview your audio. It’s easy, and even the more basic functions are helpful. Photoshop updated a lot recently, and there’s still more to be done.
