This update adds a number of great new image and video features, including the ability to create smart objects from multiple layers and use those as customized shapes in a new Vector Object feature. By selecting an individual part of an image, you can create one of these customized shapes, and then use it to customize parts of other images. You can even edit the image on other devices and then send down the edited image.

This version of Photoshop introduces a new split layer mode for your artboards. Unsplitting non-visible layers that you want to merge into one is simple now: Just select the layers, and right-click to select the split>merge command. The update also includes a number of Retouch features, including Content Aware Fill. It fills an area with the referenced content of a similar color and background even though the area is not entirely filled with the referenced content. This is handy when, in a portrait, some areas of the face are lit correctly but others are not, or the camera is not able to fill in the dark shadows. The update includes Impressionistic Shadows, which closely reflects the viewer’s point of view. You can render shadows that curve away from the viewer and become softer as they get farther away.
